Dimmsdale

I find myself feeling bad for Dimmsdale. Even though he has committed adultery, I just feel like he shouldn't be suffering so much! Especially after four years, you would think that he might be a little past that now. It is kind of hard with Pearl alive, but the poor man is being dragged through four years of suffering. I am also very suprised about Chillingworth because he is relentless. I think he is truly evil.

    i agree with you jacquie but only to a certain point.
    You have to remember that he did commit adultery, so he did bring all his suffering upon himself.
    &&& if you have a child, obviously you'll never forget it, i think that's why he hasn't really gotten past pearl & hester.

    i agree with you on chillingworth though >.<

    I find myself having a hard time feeling sorry for Dimmsdale as I see the punishment that Hester has suffered all these years and how Dimmsdale never confessed himself. I believe that he should have received punishment as well as Hester was not the only one committing a crime. I think that Dimmsdale is receiving the punishment he deserves for not fessing up to his crime when he was given the opportunity.
