Is the horrible thing that Mr Dimmesdale sees in the sky a comet? If so, is everyone saying that it is in the outline of the letter "A"? Is this supposed to be some sign from God to the minister telling him that he needs to also have a punishment for the sin he committed and be along side Hester?
On another note, does Pearl really KNOW who Mr. Chillingsworth is to Hester? Could Pearl really tell Mr. Dimmesdale that the man who had taken care of him, is the man who Hester was/is married to?

ReplyDeleteI think it doesn't matter what it is, but what the minister thinks it is. So if he thinks that it is sign from God... it is sign from God. :)

I don't know - I don't think that she had met Chillingworth before. It was mentioned that the Hester's interview with Chillingworth was the first since the interview in the beginning, so I don't think that Pearl had an opportunity to know Roger, and so I doubt that she knows who he is.
